This soup is a standard soup you can order at the Zi Ca (煮炒) stall in Singapore. Such stalls are found in every single hawker center and they probably command the highest price among the various kinds of food in the area because they only start preparing your food after you’ve ordered them.

It is almost like your homecooked food but done by the hawker. They are always delicious.

I grew up having this soup when we eat at the hawker center. Interestingly, it was a church mate, Hoon Siong. When I was a teenager, I had a bunch of friends who would eat out together every Saturday. We used to eat at the hawker centers, and in one such occasions, Hoon Siong order this soup, which was supposed to be one of the simplest soups at the Zi Car stall. Suffice to say it became one of those dishes I order frequently ever since.

Making this soup is super easy. You just throw everything into the soup, give it a boil and that’s it. No skill required, the ingredients did all the work.
