What’s better than hot cross buns? It has got to be hot cross bun pudding! My mom used to make bread puddings for us. That’s one dish she remembers from her days as a British soldier’s maid in the 1940s to 1960s.

I love bread puddings, but seldom make them because I think that they are not really healthy. Nevertheless, it is Easter Sunday, so why not?!

Bread puddings are just old bread buttered and soaked in custard and then baked. I added some frozen berries to them because my daughters have so many of them in the freezer. It is good to refresh the food.

Here’s what the AI engine says hot cross buns are:
Hot cross buns are a traditional type of sweet, spiced bun made with raisins or currants and marked with a cross on the top. They are particularly associated with Good Friday and the Easter season in Christian countries. The dough for hot cross buns typically includes flour, sugar, milk, yeast, and butter, and is flavored with spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. The cross on top of the buns can be made from a flour and water paste before baking, or from icing piped onto the buns after they are baked. Hot cross buns are often enjoyed warm, sometimes split and buttered. They hold a rich cultural and religious significance, symbolizing the crucifixion of Jesus Christ with the cross on top.

Great Easter dessert!
