I like my sugee with some salt and small. This is the first and only recipe my mother-in-law gave me more than 25 years ago, when I first met her. It has since been passed on to many friends and relatives through me.

Probably the simplest Chinese New Year cookies to make. So yeah, why not. It takes me less than 15 minutes from start to finish to get a can of 40 cookies out. 

Sugee Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 150 g Plain Flour sifted
  • 75 g Semolina flour can be replaced by almond meal if dislike the gritty taste
  • 25 g Almond meal
  • 100 g Ghee can be replaced by any cooking oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 100 g Icing Sugar sifted

Instructions
 

  • Place everything in a blender, and blend. Stop when it comes to a dough. Takes less than a minute and do not overmix.
  • Shape them into 1/2 teaspoon-ful balls. Place them 1 cm apart in a baking sheet.
  • Bake on a high shelf in 180C for 9 minutes.
  • Store in air tight container.
