Equipment
- Mei Wok
Ingredients
- 1 block soft tofu, cubed
- 1 package salmon belly
- 1 onion
- 1 stalk green onion (for garnish)
- 5 Tbsp ketchup
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
Instructions
- Heat wok on high heat until just smoking. Add a drizzle of cooking oil.
- Add sliced onions to pan and cook for 1 minute, until slightly soft.
- Add salmon to pan and sear on the surface
- Add in the cubed tofu. (Smush the tofu so flavor gets in- I forgot to do this)
- Stir in the ketchup, oyster sauce, and minced garlic. Add a splash of water or shaoxing wine if the salmon sticks to the pan.
- Simmer for 5-7 more minutes until salmon is done & tofu is heated through. Add more ketchup or oyster sauce to taste. Top with green onions and enjoy with rice!
Notes
Simple Ketchup Salmon and Tofu (Dish #1)
Ketchup is for french fries and hash browns right? But when combined with oyster sauce it creates a delicious tomatoey, tangy umami flavor. For this salmon & tofu dish, I prefer salmon belly from my local asian grocer rather than salmon filets, because it is higher in fats (the good kind!) and thus less dry - but either works.
This comes together in 15 minutes or less!
